Stone Mountain Park is a travel excursion that holds sentimental value with me.  A few years back, my family visited there and we did the Walk-Up Trail.  I thought the views were gorgeous.

Stone Mountain Parks sits just over 10 miles outside of Atlanta in DeKalb County.  It attracts more than 4 million visitors each year.  That makes it Georgia’s most visited attraction and one of the most visited attractions in the Southeast.

Stone Mountain Park has over 3,200 acres of natural beauty.  It holds fishing lakes, wooded trails, a golf course and the largest bas-relief sculpture in the world.  It offers theme park rides and thrills plus a chance to go back in time and experience local history.

New this year at Stone Mountain Park is Dino Fest.  You’ll see high flying dinosaurs in a 4-D , s new lighted dinosaur themed parade.  There will also be a dinosaur Drone & Light Show on select dates.  Both of these are included in an Attractions Ticket.

There will also be a Meet & Greet when you can take photos with realistic dinosaur characters.  Another new attraction is Then & Now where you can see animal babies that are descendents of dinosaurs.  Do the Dinosaur Stomp with Peanut the Dinosaur and enjoy a Jurassic Jamboree, a prehistoric percussion party.

You can hike the one mile trail to the top of Stone Mountain for 360 degree views or you can take the Summit Skyride, a high speed cable car.

New to the park is the Lakeside Zipline Adventure at the Adventure Outpost.  Soar through the trees and get stunning views of the mountain.  It has 6 ziplines and 14 obstacles.

Bring your own kayak, canoe or paddle board or rent one there and get out on the 353 acre lake.  The Historic Square is a collection of original Georgia buildings, built between 1793 to  1875.  Each building was moved and then restored to preserve its authenticity and historical value.
