One of the most unique and special winter festivals in South Korea fittingly takes place in Pyeongchang.  Since Pyeongchang is of course the recent site of the 2018 Winter Olympics.  And it is now the site of the Pyeongchang Trout Festival!

The Pyeongchang Trout Festival takes place on a frozen river.  The festival celebrates the region’s renowned trout resources.  It takes place this year from Friday, January 3, 2025 through Sunday, February 2, 2025.

The festival is full of fun activities.  A lot of these are fun traditional winter activities, like sledding and ice skating.  You can also look at beautiful ice sculptures.  There are cultural performances there as well.

And of course very fittingly, one of the activities is ice fishing for trout.  You can drop your line.  Once you’ve reeled in a fish, you can take the fish to the cooking area.  The on-site staff will cook the fish.  You can then eat this fresh fish on the spot!

If you don’t have any experience ice fishing, don’t worry.  A guide who speaks Chinese and English will be there to help you if you purchase the Pyeongchang Trout Festival Ice Fishing Tour Package.

Speaking of which, find out how to save money on this package.
