This year you don’t have to go across the country to New Orleans, Louisiana to enjoy Mardi Gras. Instead, you can experience a wonderful Mardi Gras celebration right in San Diego, California. And you can do this by going to SeaWorld San Diego!
Yes, SeaWorld San Diego is once again having a Mardi Gras event this year! It takes place on Saturdays and Sundays. It begins on January 25, 2025, and will run through March 2, 2025. It also takes place on Friday (February 14, 2025) and Monday (February 17, 2025) during President’s Day weekend.
You’ll be able to enjoy all your favorite animal interactions, rides, presentations, and attractions. But you also get to enjoy a fun Mardi Gras party. It is one of the only family-friendly Mardi Gras celebrations in the San Diego area.
So what kind of festivities can you expect at SeaWorld’s Mardi Gras celebration?
Royal Mardi Gras Parade
I am very excited for a new addition to the festivities this year, and that is the Royal Mardi Gras Parade!
This parade features:
- Colorful floats
- No Bad New jazz band performance
- Singers
- Dancers
- Jesters
- Stilt Walkers
- and more!
Live DJ, Magic & Fire Dance
The parade isn’t the only new attraction at SeaWorld San Diego this Mardi Gras! Head over to the Wild Arctic Plaza, where you can find a live DJ and magic shows during the day. After the sun sets, you can watch a nightly fire dance.
Tunnel of Lights
Thought the holiday season was the only time you could walk through a tunnel of lights? Think again! There’ll be a Mardi Gras-music-activated tunnel of over 5,000 colorful, shimmering lights. Warning: you might be inspired to dance or take a selfie when walking through here.
Performers & Activities
Talented SeaWorld performers will be entertaining guests throughout the day near the SkyTower Stage. In addition to the performances, you can enjoy seeing their colorful costumes and family-friendly activities there.
You can also catch performers over at SkyTower Lawn, including stilt-walkers, jesters, comedy magicians, and more.
Mardi Gras Activities
There are family-friendly games and activities near the SkyTower Stage. And at the SkyTower lawn, you can enjoy a bead toss or get your face painted.
Good Time Jazz Band & DJ Performances
The Good Time Jazz Band on the SkyTower Lawn is back by popular demand! They’ll be playing New Orleans-inspired Jazz and Dixieland music that are perfect for Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras Food & Drinks
And finally, what is a great SeaWorld event without food and drinks? So of course they have some great things available at this event! You’ll find them (where else?) at SkyTower Lawn! They’ve got the kind a great mix of food and drinks that are perfect for a Mardi Gras celebration like Po Boys, Kings Bundt Cake, Jambalaya, Beignets, Hurricanes, and more.
