If there’s a game you really want to watch and you’re at the Walt Disney World Resort, then a good place to go is Rix Sports Bar and Grill. Rix Sports Bar and Grill is a sit-down restaurant along with a bar at Disney’s Coronado Springs hotel. They’ve got 31 TVs and will let turn the TV to whichever game you want. The food is (mostly) delicious. The restaurant is also a bit too small for a sports bar and it’s really hard to get a table. But I think if there’s a game you really want to watch, then this is a good place to get a meal at Disney World. And even if you don’t, a lot of the food is very good, making it worth the visit.

So let me run down a few positives and negatives of my family’s time at Rix Sports Bar and Grill, and then I’ll tell go in depth about a few points.

Positives

  • They’ll turn the TV near you to whichever game you choose
  • They don’t run people even after you finish your meal, so you can finish your game
  • The seats are really comfortable
  • There are plenty of TVs
  • A lot of the food was really good

Negatives

  • The wait for a table is really long
  • The food took a long time to come to our table
  • The Tator Tots were awful

Getting A Table

We opted to be put on the waiting list, but soon realized this was a big mistake. You would think being on the waiting list would make it easier to get a table, but this didn’t help at all. We waited a very long time to get seated.

The problem is, there aren’t that many tables.

Rix Sports Bar & Grill at Coronado Springs at Walt Disney World is not very large, which has its advantages and disadvantages.
Coronado Springs, a Disney World moderate hotel, has lots of dining including Rix Sports Bar and Grill as pictured here.

And there are some positives here, such as the fact they’ll turn the TV to the game you want. But it is a negative if you want a table because there are so few.

Our advice? Make sure you have a reservation for the restaurant. It’s really not worth visiting if you don’t have a reservation unless you just want to sit at the bar. Because the wait is just so long! This is especially true if you want to visit during a big game such as a NFL playoff game.

And then on top of the wait for the table, it took a long time for our food to come. Which has its positives in a sports bar. It means longer to watch the game. But if you are hungry like we were that day, you start to get really cranky! You really want to get your food.

Food Review

So let me go into more detail about that food.

A hack for saving money on your dream Disney trip

The fish of the day when we were there was the Mahi Mahi. It was delicious and cooked perfectly.

The entrees were cooked perfectly at Rix Sports and Bar Grill at Walt Disney World, but the sides left a lot to be desired.

I got the fish sandwich, which is no longer on the menu (unfortunately), but hopefully, they bring it back.

The menu often changes, by the way. In fact, they change up the Rix Half-Time Burger every month. That makes it neat if you visit Disney World a lot.

One entree my family enjoyed that is still on the menu was the Croissant Turkey Club. The Croissant Turkey Club consists of oven-roasted turkey, bacon, a brie cheese spread, leaf lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and mayonnaise served on a house baked croissant – and it was really good. The turkey was so good that if this was your first time eating turkey, you’d think turkey was one of the best foods of all time.

We got Tator Tots to go along with both the fish sandwich and the turkey croissant. That is no longer on the menu. Which is definitely for the better. Because they were, quite honestly, terrible. I am a big fan of Tator Tots, but not when they are super hard. Hopefully, the waffle fries that they now have are much better.

Another thing we ordered that is still on the menu is the Soup du Jour & Grilled Cheese.

The soup of the day the day we were there was very good.

My family really liked the soup of the day at Rix Sports Bar and Grill at the Coronado Springs hotel at Disney World in Orlando, FL

The Grilled Cheese Sandwich on Sourdough Bread was also very good.

Where is Rix Sports Bar and Grill?

So one last thing I wanted to address is where exactly Rix Sports Bar and Grill is at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It is located in Coronado Springs, which is one of Disney’s moderate hotels. It’s a nice hotel with a Mexican theme. You can find a good price for Coronado Springs – that is how my family saved a lot of money on our stay!

It is located right across El Mercado de Coronado Food Court, the food court at Coronado Springs. It is one of the Convention Center restaurants at the resort.

Final Thoughts

Rix Sports Bar and Grill has enough delicious foods on the menu to make it a good place to have a meal, and it’s enhanced by all of the TVs playing games if you are a sports fan. Just make sure you get a reservation because the wait will be too long otherwise!

This is due to the fact that the restaurant is not particularly large. If you looking for a larger sports bar and restaurant in Orlando, then check out our NBC Sports Grill and Brew review.
