Every town has “that house.” The deserted house the kids are sure is haunted. They say a mass murder was committed there and bodies are buried in the basement. Kids double dare each other to run up and knock on the door.
Monongahela, Pennsylvania, has “that house.” It began as the McCue Mansion, but locals call it the Demon House. Built in the late 1800s, construction unearthed more than 70 unmarked graves. Locals believe that was when the evil was unleashed.
Mrs. McCue considered herself to be a healer. The locals believed she was an evil witch. In 1894, the sheriff learned that the mansion was deserted. The deputy sheriff took a posse of 6 men to investigate. The 7 men entered the mansion and the door slammed shut. A scream was heard. None of the men ever came out and none were ever seen again.
