When you combine the magic of Christmas with iconic music and gorgeous dancing, you are bound to have a hit. And that is precisely why year after year, people love watching The Nutcracker.
American Midwest Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker is particularly a hit. And they will be back in Omaha, Nebraska this December. In fact, it is such a hit they added extra performances this year!
The cast is always a hit. It has dancers from the American Midwest Ballet (which you may know of as their former name, Ballet Nebraska). They are a professional dance company based out of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Rounding out the cast are student dancers from around the Omaha area.
In addition to the great dancing, there is of course the wonderful Tchaikovsky score. This production also has gorgeous sets and 250 lavish costumes. And of course there is the wonderful, family-friendly story of Clara at Christmastime.
The American Midwest Ballet’s Nutcracker performances take place at the Orpheum Theater. This is a great venue with a wonderful history. It was originally constructed in 1927 and was a former vaudeville house. It was recently renovated to get enhanced acoustics.
